In America today 41,000 become infected with an STD each day, half of which will be lifelong infections. That's 15,000,000 more infections every year. In 2001, 5,500,000 people had contracted the Human Papillomavirus. The most common strain of this virus causes over 90% of cervical cancer in women. HPV is incurable. |

In July 2001 the National Institutes of Health put out a study of condoms' effectiveness in preventing the transmission of eight of the most common STD's (HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphylis, chancroid, trichomoniasis, genital herpes, and genital HPV). After reviewing 180 studies taken over that last 20 years, they found that those who use condoms consistently and correctly 100% of the time reduce their risks by the following:

14-16 couples out of every 100 using condoms will conceive a baby within 12 months. This rate is usually higher in couple under 25 years of age. |
